Community based education
Not every place in Battambang province has a school or schools specially in the remote districts in the Cambodian –Thai border and not many teachers are willing to go or stay as they are not used to its environment so they often go back to the cities.Take for example the villages and district in Sampov Loun which don’t have schools but with a lot of children having no access to education

Currently this project is done in two temporary schools in two villages which cover around 250 children (from grade 1- 4). The children received school kits and school uniforms too from PKO for their study.
The villages we are working with are located deep in the middle of the forest without accessible roads and any infrastructures. Those group of people were former displaced Khmer Rouge families from Battambang and other provinces residing in the jungle to find land for farming as they do not have any land or houses in the city or town, something that drove them to this remote areas.
Besides giving them opportunity to avail of proper education, we also organized training sessions to the communities on water management and sanitation practices to combat malaria, typhoid and dengue fever.
Our project team conducts home visit to the home of the children in order to talk to their parents about the rights of their children, the value of education and discussing with them their daily life situation.
