This project is supporting the vulnerable children to go back and keep continue their study at the public schools as the other children in their community. PKO found that even they are in the same community but they don’t have the same opportunity, especially the one of poor families who have to abandon the school or take more absence at school in order to have more times to help their parents to work to earn some income for their family. For the purpose of survival, the parents who even understood about the value of education still decided to stop their children from school in order to give the priority for the fulfillment of the stomach.

Poor children, have less opportunity to school and have less opportunity to growth if comparing with their basic right. It is not fair that they can not get equal opportunity. PKO wish to give the equal opportunity for poor children in term of education.

Our wish come true, after our Volunteer Ms. Cristina Campello spent her value time at working with PKO. During her work she studied on the case of those children and decided to help those children by bringing them the new hope and preparing them for the better future through providing them with the scholarship package. She raised the fund from her friends, her relatives and even from her husband in order to support those children. It is now two years already that this project is running for 41 children. These 41 children are now at schools with good results. Our staff are conducting the follow up to their schools and home case by case. Our staffs conducted the counseling with their parents and try to motivate those parents to continue to encourage their children to go to school regularly.

PKO distributes the scholarship package in every trimester. When there is the distribution we always invite the schools principals and the local authority to joint the event.

Those 41 children are not better and schools. Some of these children are the children who affected by HIV/AIDs which PKO need to take more consideration to their case.

The number of scholarship package is still limited because it is only for 41 children but there are more children in Battambang who need the support in term scholarship to enable to go to school.
