Dream School Project Phase II

The “Dream School Project Phase II” in Battambang Province, Cambodia, aims to improve education by enhancing teacher and school director skills, engaging the community through training and support, and upgrading school infrastructure. The project includes workshops, recruitment of volunteer teachers, and collaborative efforts to foster a supportive and effective learning environment.

Goal

        To enhance the quality of education in targeted schools within Battambang province, Cambodia, by improving school facilities, teacher capacity, and community engagement.

Specific Objectives
The quality of education in the four targeted schools in Battambang province is enhanced and they provide a more equitable and resilient school environment

Conduct Workshops and Trainings for Teachers, Headmasters, and Other Teaching Staff

Organize a series of workshops and training sessions focusing on topics such as self-discipline, leadership and management, classroom management, teamwork building, and pedagogical methods. These workshops are designed to improve the professional skills and confidence of teaching staff, enabling them to deliver quality education through learner-centered and active learning methods.

Capacity Building and Trainings for Teacher Trainers

Design and implement training sessions for teacher trainers at teacher training institutes, covering advanced teaching techniques and innovative pedagogical approaches. This aims to enhance the overall quality of teacher training and address the needs of struggling learners.

Recruit TwB Volunteers

Recruit Teachers Without Borders (TwB) volunteers to provide external expertise and practical support to local schools and teacher training centers, thereby building local capacity and improving teaching quality.

Support Education Staff in Creating Development Plans

Provide monthly support to education staff for the development and implementation of individual and school-based development plans, ensuring these plans are realistic, actionable, and aligned with school goals.

Organize Coaching and Mentoring

Conduct weekly coaching and mentoring sessions for teachers and school staff to offer regular feedback, guidance, and support, thus maintaining high standards of teaching and learning.

Sensitization and Training for Parents and Community Leaders

Organize training sessions to educate parents and community leaders about their roles in supporting children’s education, aiming to increase community engagement.

Trainings for School Support Committees (SSCs)

Provide training to SSC members on their roles and responsibilities, empowering them to effectively support school management and development.

Meetings Between SSCs, Parents, and School Directors ,Support for SSC Action Plans

Conduct regular meetings to foster open communication and collaboration, promoting a collective effort towards school improvement. Assist SSCs in developing and implementing action plans, providing necessary coaching and monitoring.

Assess and Repair School Buildings and Construct Latrines

Conduct assessments and repairs of school buildings to ensure safe and functional learning environments, and construct new latrines to improve sanitation facilities..

Plan and Implement Community Sensitization Activities

Organize activities to raise awareness about the importance of education and community involvement in supporting schools.

Review and Train SSCs

Collaborate with teachers and students to plan and implement small school improvement projects.

Support SSC Plan Development and Implementation

These projects address specific needs and enhance the learning environment, fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility among teachers and students.

Support Student Councils and Activities for Girls

Provide regular support to student councils, focusing particularly on empowering girls, to promote leadership and a positive school environment.

Plan and Implement Small School Improvement Projects

Collaborate with teachers and students to plan and implement small school improvement projects. These projects address specific needs and enhance the learning environment, fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility among teachers and students.
