Heak Ratha: Building Confidence for a Successful Career
"Before joining FLC, I wasn't confident enough to apply for jobs because I lacked practical skills. Today, I have the confidence to prepare my own job application, use computer skills effectively, and pursue career opportunities without fear. FLC gave me the courage to take the first step toward my future."

Heak Ratha
Ms. Heak Ratha is a 21-year-old third-year Khmer Literature student at the National University of Battambang (NUBB). She comes from Kao Bei Village, Ou Sralao Commune, Malai District, Banteay Meanchey Province. Although her family has a moderate living condition and she has consistently performed well academically, Ratha understood that academic achievement alone was not enough to prepare for her future career. She needed practical skills that would help her compete in today's job market.
The Challenge
Before joining the Future Leaders Center (FLC) Scholarship Program, Ratha had limited computer skills and little knowledge of how to prepare professional job application documents. These gaps reduced her confidence when applying for jobs and made her uncertain about entering the workforce after graduation.
PKO's Response
Through the FLC Scholarship Program, Ratha received practical training in computer skills and career preparation. The program equipped her with essential workplace knowledge, including how to use computer applications effectively and prepare professional job application documents. These opportunities helped bridge the gap between university education and employment while increasing her confidence in pursuing career opportunities.
Change & Impact
The FLC Scholarship Program helped Ratha develop a clearer educational and career plan. She significantly improved her computer skills and gained the confidence to apply for jobs independently. Most importantly, the program enabled her to secure employment, demonstrating how practical skills training can directly improve a student's future opportunities.
Remaining challenges: Although Ratha has made significant progress, financial challenges remain an ongoing concern while she continues her university studies. Like many students, she continues balancing educational expenses with preparing for her future career.
