STORIES FROM OUR WORK

People, Experiences and Lessons Behind the Change

Discover stories from children, young people, teachers, scholars, communities and partners connected with PKO’s programs and projects.

WHY STORIES MATTER

Evidence Tells Us What Changed. Stories Help Us Understand What It Meant.

Project data can show participation, progress and results. Stories add another perspective by showing how people experienced an activity, what challenges they faced, what changed and what they learned. PKO uses stories to complement—not replace—monitoring, assessment and evaluation evidence. Stories should therefore remain grounded in real experiences, clearly connected to a project or program, and written in ways that respect the dignity, privacy and voice of the people involved.

RESPONSIBLE STORYTELLING

Stories With Evidence, Consent and Respect

Grounded in Evidence

Claims about results should be supported by interviews, monitoring records, assessments, reports or other appropriate evidence.

Respectful Representation

People should be shown with dignity and agency rather than portrayed only through hardship or vulnerability.

Consent & Privacy

Personal information, quotations, images and identifying details should only be published when appropriate permission and safeguarding requirements have been addressed.

Honest About Change

Stories should describe what evidence supports and avoid exaggerating PKO’s contribution or presenting planned results as achievements.
